Community Centre Open Day
A good turn out from local residents marked a successful Open Day for Badger Farm Community Centre yesterday. I was pleased that the Mayor of Winchester was able to attend and offically open the event. The jazz band was going strong in the garden, while the hall saw displays of Tae Kwon Do, Latin American dancing, "Legs, Bums & Tums" exercise and much more.
Stalls in the other rooms were staffed by a variety of organisations that make use of the Centre. Wandering around these I had interesting conversations with New Bridge about their work in befriending prisoners, Winchester Action on Climate Change, Hampshire & IOW Wildlife Trust, Winchester Probus, and the Hampshire Children's Information Service. I also admired the floral displays from Winchester Horticultural Society and bought marmalade from the Country market stall.
Congratulations to Ian Millar and the rest of the team for making it such a fun event.
